QUOTES:

Handling issues led to a 26th-place finish for AJ Allmendinger in his No. 47 Kroger ClickList Chevrolet SS in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday evening.

“We started off the race battling no balance and no grip with our No. 47 Kroger ClickList Chevrolet SS,” Allmendinger said. “There was just no grip after so many laps - - no rear tires left. After our first pit stop, it still needed help in the rear. I just couldn’t turn the wheel and needed it tightened up in the corner. It was just so loose, it was buzzing the tires. After the first stage, it was still burning the rear tires off, tight, and had a four-wheel slide.

"At the end of Stage 2, it was really loose and the back was wiggling all the way to the middle of the corner - - just burning the rear tires off," continued Allmendinger. "It got so loose at one point that I pitted under green (lap 235) because I thought we might have a right rear tire going down. Not sure what happened there, but I got so loose that I thought maybe the track bar was even broke. It was a tough day, but the guys kept working hard trying to find some sort of balance. We’ll put this race behind us and move on to Vegas (Las Vegas Motor Speedway). I just want to thank Kroger, Maxwell House and all our partners for their support this season.”
