Included in that cookout is a celebrity appearance by NASCAR driver AJ Allmendinger, driver of the No. 47 Kroger/Kingsford Chevrolet SS.  Allmendinger’s appearance is in part a reward for Maple Glen Elementary’s exceptionally strong participation in the Kroger Community Rewards program. Community Rewards allows customer households participating in the loyalty card program to designate a share of their shopping proceeds to a local school or charity of their choice. Kroger Central Division, with stores primarily in Indiana and Illinois, distributes $2 million per year to more than 1,000 local community organizations through Community Rewards; part of a $15 million per year charitable budget. Through active participation in the program, Maple Glen families have designated more than $15,000 in unrestricted donations from Kroger so far in 2016 to the school.
Allmendinger will arrive at the school at 4:00 PM, offer a brief media appearance, then have a meet-and-greet / autograph session from 4:15 – 4:45 PM.  At approximately 4:45 PM, AJ will challenge Westfield Mayor Andy Cook and Superintendent of Schools Dr. Grate to a trike race.
The community open house at Maple Glen will include a bounce house, games and refreshments. During the event, a glass mural created by students celebrating the 10th anniversary of the school will be unveiled and the Westfield Police Department will have a K-9 presentation.
The Kroger Co. has been serving local communities for 133 years. The Kroger Central Division has 136 food stores, 115 pharmacies and 96 fuel centers operating under three banners; Kroger, Owen’s and Pay Less, with locations primarily in Indiana and Illinois, in addition to three stores in Missouri, one in Michigan and one in Ohio. Kroger Central Division is dedicated to supporting every local community it serves, contributing more than $15.1 million in 2015 to local organizations, primarily focusing on hunger relief, K-12 education, health causes and diversity. The Kroger Co. was once again named the most generous company in America in a Chronicle of Philanthropy listing detailed in Forbes Magazine.
