Race number 15 of the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season wrapped Sunday afternoon with AJ Allmendinger placing 22nd in the finishing order behind the wheel of his No. 47 Charter Chevrolet SS at Michigan International Speedway. He is currently 21st (382) in the driver points standings that is led by Jeff Gordon (537) followed by Jimmie Johnson (522), who was the Quicken Loans 400 race winner.
“We got everything we could out of the race Sunday,” Allmendinger said. “I’m really proud of my pit crew. They are really working hard and had some great pit stops. They were really good all day. I’m proud of that. We were just slow in the race. We had a decent balance with the Charter Chevrolet SS to start with and then we just were not great and lacking speed down the straightaway. We were hurting the balance trying to help the straightaway speed. We have some work to do as a whole on these bigger tracks. We’ll try to go next week to Sonoma Raceway and see if we can get one (a win).”
“During the race, we had to do things to take grip out of the car to try to take some drag out of it and find more speed somewhere,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “All that hurt the balance of the car. We were doing everything we could to take drag out of the car.”
“We expected to be faster with a new car” JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “You know, it was a bad day for us and we finished 22nd. I think if we can make our bad days 22nd-place finishes and then have a few more good days, we will be right where we want to be. AJ did a great job. We obviously missed it a little bit, but he drove his heart out and got us a good finish.”
“I mean just as much as we prepared a brand new car for Michigan International Speedway, we went all the way to Sonoma Raceway and tested there,” Geschickter continued. “We are expecting for that race to pay dividends.”
“It’s a new week every week and we’ll put this one behind us,” Allmendinger said. “Sonoma Raceway is a better track for us and we got to test there. That doesn’t mean that we are going to show up and be great. We’ve just got to keep working hard and go into this coming weekend with the same attitude. We know that we have a better shot going there, but we can’t over emphasize it. We’ll just go there and do our thing.”

THE POWER OF BLEACH:
Clorox® Regular-Bleach, Concentrated
It's probably the best, but we don't want to brag.
You wouldn’t hire a kinda-respectable babysitter or eat kinda-fresh sushi, so why clean with kinda-whitening bleach? Clorox® Regular-Bleach packs the whitening and dirt-fighting power you demand, all in a smaller, easy-to-use package. Plus it disinfects to kill 99.9% of germs and bacteria, which is kinda awesome.
