TEAM QUOTES:

AJ Allmendinger and the JTG Daugherty Racing team had their hands full with the No. 47 Hungry Jack® Chevrolet SS unexpectedly shredding tires at Atlanta Motor Speedway Sunday night that resulted in a 40th-place finish.

“First I want to thank Hungry Jack for making their first appearance on the No. 47 Chevrolet SS at Atlanta Motor Speedway,” Allmendinger said. “We appreciate their support and all of our great partners that are behind us. It’s not the night we were hoping for, but the tire went and it got us behind at the start. After that, it kept doing it. I don’t know what the cause was, but part of it was the actual tire. People were struggling with it for sure. We definitely missed it though. We thought we were going to be okay in the beginning because I was able to start making some moves and the car felt pretty good. Then we had those issues.”

“As the race went on, a lot of people had the same problem with the right-rear tire, we just had it sooner,” JTG Daugherty Racing team owner Tad Geschickter said. “Being locked in the Chase, knowing we have to run this tire again, we just tried a lot of different things throughout the rest of the race to see if we could make it last longer. So, we could learn what we were missing there. We never really solved the problem. We just have to go back to the shop and regroup. The good thing is that this is our Dover (International Speedway) car and AJ did a good job of keeping it out of the fence despite having those problems.”
