CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY RECAP:

AJ Allmendinger qualified 13th and finished 21st in his No. 47 Kingsford Toyota Camry during the 13th Annual Geico 400 at Chicagoland Speedway. After running in the top 15, his biggest challenge was an ill-handling race car that caused him to lose a lap. Allmendinger fought tight and loose handling problems along with a vibration throughout the course of the event, but in the end managed to finish on the lead lap in his sixth race with JTG Daugherty Racing.

Rain delayed the 267-lap race, which ended under the lights. Matt Kenseth was the victor, who is now the current NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points leader by eight points. He bested Kyle Busch for the victory by 0.749 seconds. There were 25 lead changes among 16 drivers in the race that had nine cautions for 46 laps.

CHICAGOLAND SPEEDWAY QUOTES:

“It was a long day with the rain delay and all the guys worked really hard,” AJ Allmendinger said. “We started off with the Kingsford Toyota Camry vibrating bad and it was really loose. I was just trying to hold on and not wreck it. It was the worst vibration we had experienced. With it being so bad loose, I wasn’t ready for that. The car felt like it was on top of the track. They kept working on it and about halfway I was tight in the center and free off. As the race continued it became loose in, tight in the center and loose off. It was massive tight and loose off with about 50 laps or so to go. In the closing laps, I was wicked loose in the corner and still tight in the center. We made a lot of changes, but the car acted weird like something might have been broke at one point. We’re going to focus on working on the car’s body because it was a handful in traffic during the race.”

“The one thing I can say about the weekend is that it was one of the harder weekends for us being off with the car during the race, but we seemed to learn more,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “Even though it was a tough race, we can bring out a lot of positives from it. We learned more about what we need to get better at before we unload at the track. We learned some things we are lacking that we can do back at the shop to help our program before we arrive at the track on Friday.

“Everything with AJ is going well and there is a lot of energy and positivity that he brings to the team,” Burns continued. “He helps lift everybody up to move forward so we don’t dwell on things.”

"Black and pinto beans are spiced up with green chilies to create this Tex-Mex favorite." Prep Time: 15 Minutes. Cook Time: 10 Minutes. Ready In: 25 Minutes. Makes 6 servings.

 

 

 

Ingredients:

 

1 medium green pepper, diced

 

1 medium onion, chopped

 

2 garlic cloves, minced

 

1 tablespoon olive oil or canola oil

 

1 (14.5 ounce) can chicken broth

 

1/2 teaspoon ground cumin

 

1 (15 ounce) can BUSH’S® Black

 

Beans, drained and rinsed

 

1 (16 ounce) can BUSH’S® Pinto

 

Beans, drained and rinsed

 

1 (10 ounce) can diced tomatoes

 

with green chilies, undrained

 

1 (10 ounce) package frozen corn, thawed

 

1 tablespoon red wine vinegar

 

1 cup cooked rice

 

6 chicken breasts, grilled

 



Directions:

 

1. In large skillet, saute green pepper, onion, and garlic in oil for 3 minutes. Stir in broth and cumin. Bring to boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 15 minutes. Add BUSH’S® Black Beans, BUSH’S® Pinto Beans, tomatoes, corn and vinegar. Heat thoroughly. Serve over rice and top with grilled chicken.
