DOVER RECAP:

Car handling challenges and cautions falling at the wrong times hurt AJ Allmendinger’s chances for a strong finish with JTG Daugherty Racing at Dover International Speedway Sunday afternoon in the AAA 400. Allmendinger started the No. 47 House-Autry Toyota 17th and finished in 26th-place during the 400-lap event that was won by Jimmie Johnson. There were 19 lead changes among eight drivers and four caution flags for 21 laps at the one-mile concrete oval. Matt Kenseth is the current points leader.

QUOTES:

“We were off today,” Allmendinger said after climbing from the No. 47 House-Autry Toyota. “Everything we tried, we really never made any big gains on the handling of the car. It was hit or miss. We would make some little gains and then it seemed to be messed up again. Every time we tried to do something to help us – like short pit – the caution came out and we lost laps. It was pretty challenging all day. I do not think we learned much. It was a tough weekend. We were massive-tight for the most part. We got it loose one time. The problem is that we are way off on the front end. We have to take the rear out to try to help it. You just kill the rear. Mostly, it did not turn. We will shift our focus to Kansas Speedway this week and hope for better results.”

“There were times where we felt like we were going to be good and then there were times where we felt like we were out to lunch,” JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “I agree it was hard to learn anything. We definitely missed it in the race. There were times in the race where we were better than others and there were some changes we made during the race that were better than others. We have to chalk this one up to not learning much and move on to Kansas Speedway.”

TAILGATER OF THE YEAR:

Throughout the 2013 NASCAR race season, JTG Daugherty Racing and our drivers, Bobby Labonte and AJ Allmendinger have searched the campgrounds at each race track looking for the best tailgaters. Now that the regular NASCAR season has ended, we have chosen our 24 weekly winners and are launching the “Tailgater of the Year” fan-vote today (and every subsequent Tuesday) at 10am EST.

It is YOUR turn to decide who wins our “Tailgater of the Year” contest and the grand prize of an all-expense paid trip to the 2014 Las Vegas Race as a guest of JTG Daugherty Racing!

The quarter-finalists were determined over the last 26 races as we scoured the camp grounds looking for our weekly favorite tailgater. Visit our contest page and help vote your favorite tailgater into the next round!

Our round-two winner and our second semi-finalist is Rich Haverstrom who had a great tailgate setup at the Spring race in Martinsville. Congratulations Rich!

Be sure to vote for your favorite once per week to help them win a trip to Las Vegas! http://a.pgtb.me/ZcZsLD
