MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY RECAP:

The balance of Bobby Labonte's No. 47 Clorox Toyota Camry was out of whack resulting in a 32nd-place finish in the Goody's Headache Relief Shot 500 Powered by Kroger at Martinsville Speedway Sunday afternoon. On Saturday, Labonte smacked the wall during morning practice causing enough damage for the team to have to change some suspension parts and the rear end housing. They also had some right-side body repairs to manage. As the team worked feverishly to put the car back together, they were not able to return to the track for final practice. The next day, Labonte noticed from the start of the race there was a problem as his Clorox Toyota was extremely loose.

There were 17 cautions for 111 laps and 15 lead changes among eight drivers with Jeff Gordon besting Matt Kenseth for the victory. Kenseth and Jimmie Johnson are tied for the points lead (Kenseth holds the tiebreaker) with three races remaining in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season.

QUOTES:

“We are not 100 percent sure what went wrong and we’re looking into it,” Bobby Labonte said. “When I bent the car on Saturday, we had to put a new rear end housing in it and some suspension parts. We might have not got everything quite back to the way it was.”

"The guys busted their tail trying to repair the car after hitting the wall in practice on Saturday," crew chief Brian Burns said. "We are pretty sure we did not get something back to the way it was before. It changed the way the racecar ran around the track. It really affected the balance of the car. It made it a lot looser. I really wish it would not have happened. We are going to look into it and see what we can do about it."

"We are not pointing any fingers, but we have got to keep finding things we have missed that hurt us that will make us better as a team," JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. "We were cording the left rear tire on our Clorox Toyota. We did not have that problem in practice. We have just got to get better as a race team. I think there is no way we should bring Bobby Labonte to Martinsville and finish 32nd. Everyone worked hard and it is not the matter of the effort; it is the matter of attention to detail. We missed something as we were putting the car back together from the accident Bobby had in practice on Saturday that was obviously making us cord the left rear tire."

TAILGATER OF THE YEAR:

Throughout the 2013 NASCAR race season, JTG Daugherty Racing and our drivers, Bobby Labonte and AJ Allmendinger have searched the campgrounds at each race track looking for the best tailgaters. Now that the regular NASCAR season has ended, we have chosen our 24 weekly winners and are launching the “Tailgater of the Year” fan-vote today (and every subsequent Tuesday) at 10am EST.

It is YOUR turn to decide who wins our “Tailgater of the Year” contest and the grand prize of an all-expense paid trip to the 2014 Las Vegas Race as a guest of JTG Daugherty Racing!

The quarter-finalists were determined over the last 26 races as we scoured the camp grounds looking for our favorite weekly tailgater. Visit our contest page and help vote your favorite tailgater into the next round!

Our first semi-final winner is Rich Haverstrom who had an enthusiastic tailgate group at the Spring Martinsville race. Rich is the first of three finalists competing for a chance to join the JTG Daugherty Racing team in Las Vegas in 2014. Good Luck in the finals Rich!
