BOBBY LABONTE NOTES:

Bobby Labonte’s No. 47 Clorox Toyota Camry expired before the finish of the AAA Texas 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday. The 2000 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion was credited with a 40
th-place finish for completing 144 of 334 laps before engine troubles ended his day.

Jimmie Johnson won the event that had 28 lead changes among 10 drivers and five cautions for 26 laps. Johnson leads the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series points standings by seven points over Matt Kenseth.

QUOTES:

“It is a shame our day ended early because we thought we were going to have a good race,” Labonte said.

“The car was pretty loose on entry and exit at the start, but we were working really hard to keep up with the track,” Labonte said. “We had a snafu on pit road, but in the end that did not really matter because something happened with the motor and we had to go to the garage. Our day was done early.”

“It was one of our better qualifying efforts on a mile-and-a-half track this year and we had a better balance on the car than we did earlier this season at Texas,” JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “I feel like we could have been in the top 25 if the motor would have lasted the whole race.”

“It was a tough day because we did not have a chance to finish the race,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We talked about giving our all and not beating ourselves today in our team meeting. We really wanted to have a good race for Bobby.”

TAILGATER OF THE YEAR:

Throughout the 2013 NASCAR race season, JTG Daugherty Racing and our drivers, Bobby Labonte and AJ Allmendinger have searched the campgrounds at each race track looking for the best tailgaters. Now that the regular NASCAR season has ended, we have chosen our 24 weekly winners and are launching the “Tailgater of the Year” fan-vote today (and every subsequent Tuesday) at 10am EST.

It is YOUR turn to decide who wins our “Tailgater of the Year” contest and the grand prize of an all-expense paid trip to the 2014 Las Vegas Race as a guest of JTG Daugherty Racing!

The quarter-finalists were determined over the last 26 races as we scoured the camp grounds looking for our favorite weekly tailgater. Visit our contest page and help vote your favorite tailgater into the next round!

Our first semi-final winner is Rich Haverstrom who had an enthusiastic tailgate group at the Spring Martinsville race. Rich is the first of three finalists competing for a chance to join the JTG Daugherty Racing team in Las Vegas in 2014. Good Luck in the finals Rich!

Be sure to vote for your favorite tailgater and help them advance to the Finals. The Grand Prize winner will win a trip to Las Vegas! https://a.pgtb.me/Wx7xsS
