BOBBY LABONTE NOTES:

Bobby Labonte capped off his last race in the No. 47 Wounded Warrior Project Toyota Camry fielded by JTG Daugherty Racing at Phoenix International Raceway with a 22nd-place finish Sunday afternoon in the Advocare 500 that was won by Kevin Harvick.

There were 23 lead changes among 13 drivers and eight caution flags for 49 laps. With one race remaining in the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season, Jimmie Johnson leads Matt Kenseth by 28 points heading into Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend.

QUOTES:

“Thanks to everybody for everything,” Labonte said. “Sunday was a day where track position meant a lot. We had it for a while. We had to pit and got a lap down on that green flag stop. We fought hard and battled back there at the end to finish where we did.”

“We were a little short on what our goal was for Phoenix, but we turned it around near the end,” crew chief Brian Burns said. “We were close to a top 20 finish. We just ran out of laps. The car was good and the driver did a great job. We did not get that last caution we needed there at the end to capitalize and get a solid top-20 finish out of it.”

“It was an interesting race with a lot of different pit strategies,” co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “I think Bobby drove a heck of a race. I am glad we were able to give him a solid car. He drove hard to get up to 22nd there at the end.

“He has meant the world to this company,” Geschickter added. “No one else could have helped us through this transition like he did. We have a lot of appreciation for everything he has done for us. We are glad we were able to give him a solid car on his last day in the No. 47.”

- Through Believe in Heroes, Acosta Sales & Marketing and Wounded Warrior Project aim to tell the stories of our nation’s warriors — and the sacrifices, challenges, and triumphs they and their families experience.

- The Believe in Heroes campaign has grown substantially over the past three years. Beginning humbly with the support of more than a dozen well-known brands and one regional grocery retailer, the program raised approximately $200,000 in 2010 and last year raised $5.7 million for Wounded Warrior Project.

- Beginning September 11, 2013 and running through Veterans Day November 11, 2013, Believe in Heroes calls on Americans to show their support and appreciation for the newest generation of veterans through the common household task of grocery shopping.

TAILGATER OF THE YEAR:

Throughout the 2013 NASCAR race season, JTG Daugherty Racing and our drivers, Bobby Labonte and AJ Allmendinger have searched the campgrounds at each race track looking for the best tailgaters. It is YOUR turn to decide who wins our “Tailgater of the Year” contest and the grand prize of an all-expense paid trip to the 2014 Las Vegas Race as a guest of JTG Daugherty Racing!

The quarter-finalists were determined over the last 26 races as we scoured the camp grounds looking for our favorite weekly tailgater. Visit our contest page and help vote your favorite tailgater into the next round!
