INDIANAPOLIS MOTOR SPEEDWAY POST RACE REPORT
Race: Brantley Gilbert Big Machine Brickyard 400
Date/Time: Sunday, July 23rd / 2:30 PM ET
TV Network / Radio: NBC / IMS / SIRUSXM
Red flags, inclement weather, a wild race and a pair of top-10 finishes for JTG Daugherty Racing sums up Sunday evening at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where AJ Allmendinger posted his 51st top-10 career-finish with a 10th-place finish in his No. 47 Kroger ClickList Chevrolet.
"All my guys on the road and back at the shop have busted their butts," Allmendinger said. "It wasn’t from lack of effort for sure. I can’t believe what my guys were doing under pit stops to try to fix it. All credit goes to the guys for working so hard and never giving up. It was a long day and long hours and hot on top of that and they just kept after it.
"We were off this weekend," Allmendinger continued. "In the race, we made it a little better, but it still wasn’t as competitive as we would have liked the car to be. You know it was just one of those days where you just kept fighting and we got a little lucky by missing all the wrecks. We know we’ve got to keep working on trying to get better and trying new things for sure. You know a day like this, it’s all from the work of my guys. The pit crew, they did great, road crew, jumping over the wall, to do all kinds of mega changes to try to fix it. But, a day like this is on them. They put the effort in for sure.”
