Chris Buescher, No. 37 BUSH'S Grillin' Beans Chevrolet SS Recap:
Chris Buescher and his No. 37 BUSH'S Grillin' Beans Chevy team overcame a shredded right-rear tire with a solid strategy to finish strong with a sixth-place finish at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday.
“Wild," Buescher said. "We had a tire go down early on and that put us off sequence and this JTG Daugherty Racing team did a good job today. They played the strategy right and worked hard. We had to fix the car too. We had a hole in the nose at one point from debris through one of the crashes. We just fought hard all day long. To be able to get to here right now, that is a really cool finish. I'm really proud of this team.
"Having AJ (Allmendinger) as a teammate has helped me tremendously at a lot of places this season," Buescher said. "Obviously, road course races are awesome to have somebody like that to lean on. But everywhere we go, I feel like we have been able to bounce stuff off of each other that's been able to start improving our team."
AJ Allmendinger, No. 47 Kroger ClickList Chevrolet SS Recap:
AJ Allmendinger was on his way to a top-10 finish at Michigan International Speedway, but had to settle for a 20th-place finish due to an untimely caution.
"Yeah, we were running ninth before we pitted (Lap 181), and five laps later a caution came out," Allmendinger said. "That's tough because we would have been okay if that hadn't happened. We would have finished around where Chris (Buescher) did. I'm proud of my guys. They worked hard this weekend like they always do. The finish just didn't show the effort and that's unfortunate. We'll keep working hard and move on to Bristol (Motor Speedway). It's a track that's been good to us in the past and I'm looking forward to it."
