An accident relegated No. 47 Hungry Jack Chevrolet SS driver AJ Allmendinger to a 40th-place  finish in the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway Sunday night. Allmendinger finished 13th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver points standings.

“There was a period in the race where we were really fast,” JTG Daugherty Racing co-owner Tad Geschickter said. “AJ drove all the way up to 12th and as the night went on we struggled to keep up with the track I think. AJ was doing everything he needed to do to get us that top-10 spot in points, which was a lofty goal for us this year - - a stretch goal. And, everything was playing in our favor. Unfortunately, he was racing hard there with Danica (Patrick) and she didn’t give him enough room in my opinion and we cut down a tire. It was a sour end to a great season, but a great season nonetheless and something we can really build on. We have a great race team, a great race car driver and he proved it again Sunday night - - and the whole team did. Even when we had a little adversity in blowing a right front tire early on, we came all the way back and put ourselves in position. These guys never say die and I’m proud of them. I’m proud of AJ and how much progress we have all made together. We are going to have a good winter and come out better next year.”
“That's a really tough way to end our night,” AJ Allmendinger said. “I'm really disappointed we were not able to finish the race because that's not the way we wanted to finish out our season. I'm just proud of my guys and proud of all the hard work they put into this year and thankful for all of our sponsors for supporting us all season long. On another positive note, we got our first win together, had our first Chase berth together and this is the highest finishing points position (13th) for JTG Daugherty Racing. It gives us something to build on for our second full-time season together next year.”
