“It was the end of the race and track position is so critical and we were running eighth with our No. 47 Clorox Chevrolet SS,” Allmendinger said. “I felt like me and the No. 31 (Ryan  Newman) were really close to the same speed. I kind of knew if I got ahead of him I might could get some clean track and get away. He got to the outside of me off of Turn 3 and I was going to try to slide in behind him, but I had a couple cars right behind me and he didn’t clear me enough for me to just slide in behind him and I couldn’t lift. So, I kind of had to side draft him and I got far enough ahead of him into Turn 1 that I thought I was going to be okay. I’m not sure how close he was to me, but whatever happened the car just got really loose and I tried to stay off of him and it just nicked him as he went by and crashed him. We had some damage from that and also got something in the right front that went through the radiator. I feel bad for everyone.”

“We were better than where we have been the last couple of weeks,” Allmendinger said. "We are still not where we need to be, outright speed wise. The problems with these races right now, and Pocono has always been like that, but it is all track position based. Compared to some of the really good cars, you can still see we have got work to do. We were definitely more competitive. We really struggled behind cars so that was another reason we needed to be aggressive on the restarts to clear some cars. It is almost like right now you run in groups of cars that if you get to that next level group, you can almost hang with them. The first three or four cars get away so much and then it is groups of cars you race in. I was really aggressive on the restarts and I had made some good restarts. The guys kept making the car better throughout the course of the day. We had good pit stops. The Clorox Chevrolet SS was still tight for the most part, but made it a little bit better. I was trying to get all I could to get us the best finish possible.”
